About Shane

Associate Professor Shane White is a Consultant Medical Oncologist at Warringal Private Hospital. He treats all solid tumour cancers and has developed extensive sub-speciality interest and expertise in breast and lung cancers.

Shane completed his medical degree at Monash University in 1991, graduating with honours and being awarded a scholarship in his final year. He gained his doctorate over two years at The Christie Cancer Centre in the UK, in 1998-1999. On his return to Melbourne in 2000, he was made a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians and completed a two year post-graduate Diploma in Palliative Medicine.

Shane is a senior medical oncologist in the Multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Clinic and the Multidisciplinary Lung Cancer Clinic at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre at  The Austin Hospital.  Additionally, Shane previously directed medical oncology at The Northern Hospital from 2012-2017 and remains a visiting medical officer there. Finally, he is the principal investigator on many international clinical research studies. This enables him to offer patients access to new agents, in addition to well-established treatment protocols.

Shane sits on many committees and is a member of (Australia and New Zealand) Breast Cancer Trials Group (BCTG), The Thoracic Oncology Group of Australia (TOGA), The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), Cancer Trials Australia (CTA) and The Medical Oncology Group of Australia (MOGA).

Shane is passionate about training and mentoring medical students and junior doctors and continues to teach at the University of Melbourne clinical school at The Northern Hospital.

Shane is dedicated to offering his patients the highest possible level of personal care and the best treatments available for their individual needs. He places a very high priority on establishing a close and supportive relationship with his patients and their families, on their journey together.
