Patient Information
Referrals
In order to obtain the full Medicare rebate for your consultations, you will need an up to date referral to Shane.
A referral from a surgeon or specialist lasts for 3 months from the date of your initial appointment. After that, you will need to obtain an “indefinite referral” from your GP.
Fees
All fees for outpatient consultations are to be paid on the same day with cash, cheque, credit card or eftpos.
If you have registered your bank account details with Medicare, we can submit your claim so that you receive your Medicare rebate within 24 hours. This avoids the need for you to take the account into a Medicare office yourself and wait for the rebate.Shane’s fees reflect the time taken in the consultation and the complexity of your medical case. All inpatient fees and drugs listed on the PBS will be fully covered with no out of pocket fees.Shane’s office will liaise directly with all major private health funds so that you do not need to submit any inpatient accounts yourself.
Cancellations
If you are unable to attend your appointment, please contact the rooms as soon as possible. Any cancellation made less than 24 hours before the appointment may incur the full fee. In order for the clinic to run smoothly it is essential that appointments are kept and that patients arrive on time.
Transport/ Parking
Parking can be found in the neighbouring streets (2 hours) particularly the northern end of Martin St or at the Austin Hospital. Warringal Private Hospital has undergone a major extension and has completed a new 180 car parking area.
Parking can be challenging in view of the cluster of major medical centres in the area. Patients can be dropped off/collected at the entrance on Martin St. Alternatively, bus services operate on Burgundy St and the Heidelberg train station is situated 350 metres away on Studley Rd.
Please allow plenty of time for parking so that you can arrive for your appointment on time.
Prescriptions:
We endeavour to assist with your oncology treatment-related prescriptions in-between visits and now have the capacity to send e-scripts, however, organisation of prescriptions at your appointment time is far preferable. We will not send scripts without a patient’s regular attendance. If we cannot immediately attend to your prescription, you may be asked to attend to your GP.
